World Pancreatic Cancer Day: Servier still committed!

World Pancreatic Cancer Day is taking place on November 19. In association with the World Pancreatic Cancer Coalition (WPCC), Servier is committed in the fight against one of the deadliest cancers in the world. Through a new campaign β€œIt’s About Time”, WPCC and Servier (sponsors of the campaign) aim to raise awareness among the general public to better recognize the symptoms and detect the first signs of the disease.

Some key figures about this cancer:

  • Pancreatic cancer has the lowest survival rate among the major cancers.[1]
  • Every day, more than 1,257 people worldwide are diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and an estimated 1,184 people die from the disease.[2]
  • It is estimated that by 2025, 557,688 cases will be diagnosed worldwide.[3]

The pancreas is a gland located in the abdomen, behind the stomach and in front of the spine. It has two important functions: the production of digestive enzymes that are released into the intestine and the production of insulin, which regulates the absorption of sugar into the body’s cells.
