Symptoms of acute myeloid leukemia1,2

Early signs of AML may resemble symptoms of the flu or other common diseases such as :

  • Fever
  • Fatigue
  • Easily bruising or bleeding
  • Shortness of breath
  • Weight loss or loss of appetite

Risk factors of acute myeloid leukemia2

The risk factors of AML are:

  • The risk of AML increases with age
  • Gender: men are more likely to develop AML
  • Previous cancer treatment
  • Exposure to high levels of radiation or dangerous chemicals
  • Smoking
  • History of blood disorders
  • Genetic disorders
