As a pharmaceutical group committed to fighting cardiovascular disease, we are once again partnering with the World Heart Federation in one of their largest prevention campaigns. Here are 5 key points to focus on for World Heart Day!
#1 The slogan for 2025 World Heart Day: “Don’t Miss a Beat”
World Heart Day is one of the major campaigns to improve heart health and access to care. It was initiated by the World Heart Federation, and we join forces with them. Learn more about World Heart Day.
80%
As many as 80% of premature deaths from cardiovascular disease could be prevented through more affordable access to care, early screening, better nutrition, and regular physical activity1.
#2 Cardiovascular disease is on the rise worldwide
Angina pectoris: Pay attention to what your heart is telling you
Myocardial ischemia (insufficient oxygen supply to the heart muscle) is a major cause of death and disability across the globe, and angina pectoris (or angina) is the most common symptom2. Typical angina is usually defined as chest pain that is distinctive in intensity and duration and can be triggered by physical exercise or emotional stress.
Heart failure: When the heart can no longer keep up
Heart failure can cause many day-to-day challenges including shortness of breath, fatigue, swelling in the ankles, and other symptoms. It significantly impairs patients’ quality of life. However, this serious condition can be stabilized with medication (or in some cases, surgery) and a healthy lifestyle.
#3 High blood pressure is one of the main risk factors for cardiovascular disease
High blood pressure (HBP), also known as hypertension, is a chronic condition with persistently high blood pressure over time. It is one of the main risk factors for cardiovascular disease. However, high blood pressure can be controlled through early detection and appropriate treatment.
Servier is the world’s leading pharmaceutical group in hypertension3.
#4 A dedicated campaign throughout September
Our global awareness campaign, “#BecauseISaySo: The Bucket List,” is dedicated to treatment adherence and has been circulating on social media since early September. Part of our “As One” initiative, it encapsulates our strategy in cardiometabolism. #BecauseISaySo is endorsed by the International Society of Hypertension (ISH) and is carried out in collaboration with patients.
Our “As One” initiative is designed to improve patient adherence and follow-up, as well as therapeutic outcomes and efficacy. Our goal is to provide better care for healthcare professionals and patients.
#BecauseISaySo: The Bucket List is fully leveraging social media—Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, LinkedIn, X, and Threads—to drive home the message. Targeting patients and healthcare teams through a variety of media, including videos, animated visuals, brochures, and posters, the campaign provides a wealth of advice on how to better adhere to daily treatment regimens.
#5 Adherence to long-term treatment is now a major health concern
At Servier, we take this issue very seriously. As the world’s sixth-leading pharmaceutical group in cardiology3, we strongly believe that therapy adherence is key to providing effective treatment and improving patient care. Our approach is focused on three main areas:
