European Sustainable Development Weeks: More committed than ever!

As a responsible and independent Group, we aim to have a significant societal impact for patients, our teams, our partners, and the communities with whom we’re involved, while also actively reducing the ecological footprint of our operations and our medicines. These ambitions are reflected in our robust and committed CSR approach.

Overall, our CSR strategy is deliberately aligned with the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nation’s 2030 Agenda for a Sustainable World. These goals are interconnected and cover the full scope of issues that require urgent action across the board, ranging from climate change and the environment to poverty and inequality.

With a view to addressing the major societal and environmental challenges facing the pharmaceutical industry, we are specifically focusing on 10 SDGs that are directly linked to our operations:

Protecting the world around us drives each and every one of our actions, and is a concrete reflection of our four priority commitment areas:

1. Facilitate access to the best care, for and with patients

By working with patients at every stage of a drug’s life cycle, we can speed up the development of innovative, high-quality therapeutic solutions for unmet medical needs.

Our extensive global presence makes it possible for us to make these solutions accessible to as many people as possible, thereby reducing inequalities in access to healthcare worldwide.

2. Ensure health, safety, and inclusion for our teams

Being a committed healthcare stakeholder also means taking care of the physical and mental health of our teams. We strive to provide a safe, inclusive, and fair working environment for all those who work at our sites, so that each individual can thrive. We believe that a variety of perspectives enriches both the company and all our employees. With sites all over the world, Servier is made up of people from very different backgrounds and origins. This diversity reflects that of the patients for whom we work every day.

3. Create and share value, for and with our partners and communities

Whether it’s our partners or our suppliers, we place the utmost importance on ensuring that our corporate actions are mutually beneficial and respectful.

We build relationships with each of them based on ethics and mutual responsibility. Wherever we operate across the globe, we encourage responsible practices to bring about lasting positive change.

We also actively provide support for the communities with whom we’re involved, particularly through our Mécénat Servier foundation and local solidarity initiatives.

4. Operate in an environmentally responsible manner, for the common good

Caring for the planet means caring for human health. Aware of the environmental impact of our industrial and commercial activities, we are committed to minimizing these effects throughout the entire life cycle of our medicines (from R&D to the end of a product’s life, including purchasing raw materials, manufacturing, logistics, distribution, and use).

In concrete terms, this means that green chemistry, energy efficiency, and eco-design guide the production of our medicines. Every year, we review our industrial processes to reduce our carbon footprint, preserve biodiversity, control energy consumption, and improve water management.

42%

We are committed to reducing our carbon footprint by 42%2 by 2030, through our “Servier Climate Commitment” program.

100%

By 2030, 100% of our brand-name medicines will incorporate eco-design principles3 throughout the drug value chain.

Mécénat Servier: A fund that unites people around solidarity initiatives

Since 2016, our Mécénat Servier charity fund has embodied our convictions as a corporate citizen, helping to meet the challenges of our social responsibility. Across the world, this fund supports numerous solidarity initiatives in the fields of health, education, culture, and community life. The support we provide to our partner associations is both financial and human, thanks to the voluntary contributions of our teams.

Mécénat Servier encourages and facilitates the commitment of our employees through four volunteer schemes:

  • Skills sponsorship: Employees can share their professional and/or personal know-how with non-profit organizations, during their working hours, on projects in line with the Fund’s core commitment areas. Since it was launched, 3,812 skills sponsorship commitments have been made.
  • Congé Solidaire®: Employees can take part in international solidarity projects with Planète Urgence, financed by the Fund, for two weeks of their vacation time. Since its introduction, 82 such assignments have been carried out.
  • Solidarity seminars: Teams can work together on solidarity initiatives with partner associations. 941 employees have already been involved in a solidarity seminar.
  • L’ARRONDI sur salaire4: For Servier employees in France who wish to make a monthly micro-donation to a partner association, Mécénat Servier matches their donation with the same amount. Since the launch of this program, over €215,000 has been raised.

Since its creation, Servier Mécénat has supported a total of 50 associations in 32 countries.
