Since September 29, new works exploring the topic of “Art and Patients” have been on display at our R&D Institute in Paris-Saclay. Inspired by personal accounts and unique collaborations, artists and patients bring to light the powerful interplay between illness, resilience, and creativity.
Art to inform medical research
The “Art and Patients” exhibit, following on from “Art in Saclay,” enables Servier to reaffirm our belief that art can furnish a powerful link between the patient’s experience living with a disease and our collective understanding of it. The works on display are featured at the very heart of our R&D Institute in Paris-Saclay and our research teams. The selection bears witness to the life journeys of patients and the importance of keeping them top of in mind in all we do.
“Art and Patients” is an original idea from the Servier Saclay Research & Development Patient Board.
Artistic initiatives at the crossroads of art and science
The Beyond the Diagnosis art exhibit at the Servier R&D Institute in Paris-Saclay gives a face to the names of rare pediatric neurological diseases through a selection of 16 portraits of children affected by them. The exhibit has been presented in the United States at the Brown University and Harvard University medical schools, the National Institutes of Health (NIH), and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
In another part of the exhibition space, artist Andrea Ruano has been given free rein. Diagnosed with Ewing sarcoma at the age of 15, she combines personal narrative and activism in her work, challenging perceptions of illness and disability.
