Laura HEITZIG
Health Technology Assessment Manager

Start date at Servier: 2017
Background (education, qualifications): Healthcare Management (B.Sc.); MBA General Management (parallel to employment, expected graduation in 2021)

MY CAREER AT SERVIER

During my studies I did an internship at a pharmaceutical company and was convinced that I wanted to start my career in that field. I chose to work in the Market Access Department as it has important and interesting touchpoints on the products within their whole lifecycle management. After completing my bachelor studies, I aimed to join a researching pharmaceutical company that is represented globally but still retains a family character. Servier met these conditions and since I started, I have felt the impact of this inspiring combination in my daily work. I started as Junior Health Technology Assessment (HTA) Manager and was able to learn a lot about the strategic development of benefit assessment dossiers for Germany. After a year, I was promoted to HTA Manager, which is my current position.

Ever since I have been working for Servier, I have constantly had the chance to learn and to develop my professional skills.

One major learning opportunity was my 6-month assignment in the team of Global Market Access Oncology Department at Servier Headquarters in Paris.

WHAT I DO

My job is to help our medicines reaching adequate reimbursement in the German market by complying with the country’s legislation known as AMNOG*. The success of a product from a Market Access point of view is determined by the reimbursement status of our products. My role requires good communication and organizational skills to gather all relevant data and information to create a successful strategy around the AMNOG procedure with the German HTA team. My role is cross-functional: I work with people from different backgrounds, perspectives, and positions.

WHY I LIKE MY JOB

Ever since I have been working for Servier, I have constantly had the chance to learn and to develop my professional skills. One major learning opportunity was my 6-month assignment in the team of Global Market Access Oncology Department at Servier Headquarters in Paris. During that time, I supported amongst other projects, the development of the global value dossier for an oncology product. After my return to the subsidiary, we performed the corresponding HTA procedure in Germany. It was a great experience for me to gather the insights of intertwining workstreams. I will apply these learnings in my current work within the subsidiary and in future projects.

*AMNOG: Arzneimittelmarkt-Neuordnungsgesetz (AMNOG) : a German law relating to the marketing of pharmaceutical products in Germany.
