World Hypertension Day: Servier committed in the fight against HTA

17/10/2020

This year, due to the current pandemic, the World Hypertension Day is being held October 17 (instead of May 17).

In times of health crisis, it is essential to remember that hypertension is a silent disease with dramatic consequences and more than an estimated 1.2 billion people suffer from it worldwide.

For Servier, it is important to take the opportunity of this day for reminding everyone to check their blood pressure. For the past two years, this has been the main topic of discussion for the BecauseIsayso #Checkyourpressure campaign that was launched in 70 countries in partnership with the International Society of Hypertension (ISH).

Moreover, Servier launched in September a second chapter of its awareness campaign:  BecauseIsayso #Takeyourmedicine, in order to increase the information about the consequences of lack of adherence. More than one-third of people treated for hypertension either stop their treatment or forget to take it every day within months of starting treatment. This lack of adherence leads to lack of blood pressure normalization and it has very serious consequences, that include an increased risk of developing cardiovascular events such as a heart attack or stroke.

Join us in celebrating this World Hypertension Day and share this important information for protecting patients with hypertension.
