WEBINAR: for better adherence in hypertension treatment

On September 3, Servier is launching a new edition of its Because I Say So (BISS) public awareness campaign, focusing on compliance in hypertension treatment, in partnership with the International Society of Hypertension. This global campaign emphasizes the importance of taking daily antihypertensive treatment and following doctors’ advice.

Did you know?

50% of patients with hypertension stop taking their medication completely after one year and that poor adherence to antihypertensive treatment increases the risk of cardiovascular events by 30%?

In addition, the health context linked to the global Covid-19 pandemic has accelerated this phenomenon of poor treatment adherence. Called “silent” because it is often asymptomatic, hypertension can lead to serious cardiovascular disease and is the leading cause of death worldwide.

To start the BISS campaign, Servier is organizing a live webinar, which will be held on Thursday, September 3, from 9am to 10am and from 5pm to 6pm (Paris time):

How can patients, healthcare professionals and pharmaceutical companies work together to improve adherence in hypertension treatment?

Program:

  • Adherence in hypertension – a real issue with severe consequences and potential solutions – Professor M. Burnier – Switzerland
  • Adherence in hypertension – the patient’s perspective – Neil Johnson – Director of Global Heart Hub patients’ association
  • BecauseIsayso and International Society of Hypertension – a new communication campaign for improving patient information – Professor N. Poulter – UK
