IMPS: an innovative training center to promote manufacturing performance
The Institute of Management for Performance Success (IMPS) opened in February 2017. It’s the first training center for the Servier’s managers designed to promote operational excellence. The goal is to effectively train Industry teams at the operational excellence program (OPEX).
With this in mind, Servier established an unprecedented partnership with the Trades & Technologies Institute for the Pharmaceutical & Cosmetics Industries (IMT) in Tours (France), which has developed a model plant on its premises.“During three days, managers are immersed in a ‘bootcamp’ environment that gives them the chance to explore the three aspects of OPEX,” explains Laurent Dray, Head of Industry Performance. “They look at Lean management tools, managerial approaches and the mindset that goes with transformation, all in real-life situations.”
IMPS has already hosted managers coming from six manufacturing sites in five countries and the results speak for themselves. The 80 people who received training gained a fresh perspective on their activities, leading to tangible improvements in productivity. The 300 managers from all 11 Servier production sites will have benefited from this innovative training experience by the end of 2018. The “learning by doing” model deployed at IMPS could provide a source of inspiration to support the transformation of the company.
