Mécénat Servier celebrates its second anniversary
Paris, France – 28 November 2018. Servier, an independent international pharmaceutical company, is seizing the opportunity of the anniversary of its endowment fund to assess the activities implemented over these two years and announce the launch in France of the calls of projects for 2019 on December 18th.
The creation of Mécénat Servier endowment fund in November 2016 marked a new era in the philanthropic commitment of the Group. It crystallizes the activities undertaken over the past 50 years by Servier around three areas of commitment: healthcare, education and living together. Through this structure, the Group would like to embody its beliefs of corporate citizenship, by supporting general interest organisations and proposing initiatives allowing employees to be at the centre of this commitment.
Mécénat Servier initially focused on skill-based sponsorship. The aim is to encourage employees to voluntarily offer their professional or personal skills for two days a year. In total, over these two years, 172 days of field missions have been carried out by 146 employees within 5 french partner associations.
At the same time, the endowment fund has implemented Solidarity Leave® which has allowed 34 employees to get involved in international solidarity missions for two weeks of their annual leave.
Throughout these two years, Mécénat Servier endowment fund has also been involved with the Cuomo centre for paediatric cardiology in Dakar, a treatment and surgery facility for children with heart diseases. After the first successful operation on 16 January 2017, 285 operations have since been performed on children with heart conditions.
Specific activities have also been supported by the endowment fund with, for example, the collection of 2 355 used glasses from 13 subsidiaries of the Group, for the benefit of the Helen Keller International and Lunettes Sans Frontières associations.
As an extension of the momentum, the endowment fund is currently working on the development of new forms of commitments such as the introduction of « solidarity action » seminar formats or even rounding up salaries. This initiative allows employees to support one of the partner associations of their choice by making a donation taken directly out of their salary each month.
In order to encourage an international dynamic to the Endowment Fund, co-created projects between the Group, its international subsidiaries and a local interest organisation acting across the territory of the subsidiaries involved in the process are being developed. Two initial projects, termed “joint initiatives”, will be launched in 2019.
In France, for the first time this year, selection of future partners will take place through calls of projects which will be launched 18 December on the Group website. This same initiative will be rolled out to employees, allowing them to put forward projects for associations which they are already involved in as members.
